INTERVIEW WITH THE AUTHOR:
Duane K. McCullough 4/17

by Duane McCullough

This 44th interview was written by the author in response to possible questions regarding the book: SPIRIT OF ATLANTIS / The Treasure Adventure. Although there are three fictional reporters asking questions about the many views presented in the book, the questions asked are meant to inspire the public into discovering the truth and reality about Atlantis. The public is welcome to republish this "press conference" - however, any republication of this interview should include this web site address or HTML link to the www.spiritofatlantis.com web site.

Duane: I know I'm a bit early for an April interview, but I'm really eager to share the following series of new and important discoveries regarding serious evidence that the lost Capital Seaport of Atlantis once existed in the western Caribbean Basin.

In the above map images, I have compiled data which suggest the idea that the Atlantean Seaport now lies under tons of mud near the western shores of Lake Izabal in Guatemala.

The last map image is from the Google Earth program with artwork measurement data overlaid that reveals numerical and photographic evidence of the location of history's greatest mystery story.

For over thirty-five years I have attempted to share this unique theory about the whereabouts of the lost Atlantean seaport with the public -- and with the exception of a small positive newspaper article back in 1989, have received virtually no feedback since then.

I have always suspected that real evidence of the site would be discovered someday -- and now I am excited to share this data with the public.

While studying the map area online recently for a scenery model project -- and comparing numerical measurement data of the ancient canals that were part of the Atlantean seaport mystery, I discovered that the western edge of the ancient canal system can still be seen as a 10-Nautical Mile "contrast line" in the Google Earth Program.

I also discovered a remarkable mathematical puzzle story about the design of these ancient canals that reveals a treasure trove of geometric images which should inspire anyone interested in math, science and history.

By applying a new way of fitting the numerical measurement data into the area in question, I made a parallelogram shape of what I have always thought was a rectangle shape of the canal system.

In other words, by changing a rectangle shape design into a parallelogram shape design, I was able to fit a 15-Nautical Mile by 10-Nautical Mile parallel area into the western side of Lake Izabal in Guatemala, that matches Plato's description of where the plain of Atlantis can be found on Earth.

For those who have never read Plato's incredible detail story about the seaport of Atlantis and the adjacent canal system, perhaps now is the time to understand the incredible scale of what Atlantis was in ancient times.

In order to better understand this historically important story, I have made some mathematical corrections to some of Plato's details regarding certain numerical values given in his dialogues that describes the whereabouts of Atlantis.

For example, the conventional value of the ancient Stadia measurement unit -- which is used by Plato as a basic unit of distance in measuring the layout of Atlantis and the adjacent canal system, is at about 607 feet or about 1/10th of a Nautical Mile -- however, for reasons I have explained before at my spiritofatlantis.com website, the true measurement value is almost half that at 304 feet -- or 1/20th of a Nautical Mile.

Plato also uses the 12-inch foot measurement many times in describing certain width and height sizes of some canals -- but the nearly 100-yard measurement of the ancient Stadia unit should absolutely be at the 304-foot value.

Another common numerical mistake found in all translations of Plato's Atlantean story is that an extra zero has some how been added to certain high number values -- for example, instead of what has been documented as the double set length of the Atlantean canal parameter system as three-thousand Stadia by two-thousand Stadia, should correctly be understood as three-hundred Stadia or 15-Nautical Miles by two-hundred Staida or 10-Nautical Miles -- which totals to a fosse or ditch length of only one-thousand Stadia or 50-Nautical Miles, and not a value of ten-thousand Stadia as mistakenly recorded by translators long ago..

Moreover, the story about a nine-thousand unit year value of when Atlantis was destroyed by a global flood event as documented by translators of Plato's Dialogues is also a mistake -- and should be understood as a nine-hundred unit value of not years, but months -- which translates into only maybe two or three generations before the life of Plato.

And one more important detail regarding the strait canal layout system that fed mountain waters across the plain and into the harbors of Atlantis -- my version of Plato's Critias Dialogue states that the distance between every two strait canals which crossed the plain and drained into the fosse or ditch nearest the seaside, measured at the one-hundred Stadia value or 5-Nautical Miles, whereas other popular versions of Plato's work state or suggest that the distance of one-hundred Stadia exist between each strait canal.

So, by mathematically shrinking the numerical data of the Atlantean mystery down into a viable layout of the place on a real map, the reality of Atlantis should be a really big story in the news soon.

I have suspected for decades that the plain of Atlantis was almost encircled by mountains with direct access to the Caribbean Sea and was built on a major fault line that runs through the area -- but now, it looks like my suspicions are becoming factual due to the latest map evidence regarding the Atlantean canal system.

Again, the latest map evidence regarding the Atlantean canal system is the 10-Nautical Mile long "contrast line" that appears in the Google Earth program which reveals all that is left of the place -- the rest of the site was destroyed in the Biblical Flood event nearly a thousand years ago and subsequent earthquake events that are common in the area.

And regarding my earlier statement about a remarkable mathematical puzzle story about the design of these ancient canals revealing a treasure trove of geometric images, using the divine 62.5 percent proportional measurement formula of 5 to 8 value -- known as the "Golden Section" or "Golden Mean" of where to place the seaport city on the seaside fosse or ditch line, will reveal a nearly perfect directional target cross mark system design of exactly a west to east and south pattern of canals that precisely match up with the 5 to 8 mark on the southern and northern fosse or ditch lines.

This nearly perfect cross mark system of canals leading to the seaport -- together with the fosse or ditch lines, are slightly off-centered to the seaport "target" area so that the water current from the nearby mountains flows into the outer harbor in a clock-wise fashion before "flushing" into the path leading to the sea.

Moreover, the almost 52 degree angle of the entire fosse parallelogram is also the same height angle of the Cheops Pyramid in ancient Egypt -- which suggest that Atlantis and ancient Egypt were once related in geometric technology knowledge.

To an artist and mathematician with geometric knowledge like myself -- this is jaw-dropping news about Atlantis, but now I'm concerned that international treasure hunters seeking great wealth could see this data evidence as a "treasure map" and start digging in the area looking for artifacts, which would cause extreme environmental damage to the place -- so, it is my hope that they show serious and significant respect in protecting the living biosphere that exist there.

Reporter 2: So -- if the Capital Seaport of Atlantis is absolutely proven to exist under tons of mud in Lake Izabal by some kind of underwater sonar test expedition, what do you propose should be done to protect it?

Duane: Well, I once proposed an expedition I called "Project Eureka" decades ago that would search to verify the site and then take steps to politically protect it. Any effort to "move the mud" from the site by developers and other treasure seekers would have a serious negative impact on the living biosphere that exist in Lake Izabal -- so, I didn't like that possibility taking place.

But that proposal was a long time ago, and because of all the financial responsibility associated with organizing such a project, I shelved it until proof of the place somehow surfaced. Besides, what political or research organization is qualified to take on that kind of responsibility?

I actually sent and recieved several letters to the National Geographic Society back in the eighties regarding my Atlantean book project -- but was politely rejected due to lack of evidence.

Over the years, I have been comfortable with just knowing the place exist undisturbed and also believe that any effort to ransack or take artifacts from the place would be somewhat like further destroying the mystery that has become Atlantis.

What monetary value would, say a vase from the ancient seaport of Atlantis fetch at a major public auction or museum display event be worth?

The real treasure is the knowledge that Atlantis was once a real place -- and that is a value we can all treasure in our minds. This discovery suggest much work needs to done in rewriting all the history books that excludes the Atlantean subject from history.

Reporter 3: Regarding your theory about how you believe Atlantis was destroyed in the Biblical Flood event less than a thousand years ago -- and that Plato also states that Atlantis was destroyed in a global earthquake and flood event, are you saying that both world-wide catastrophic events were the same event? And if so -- how did you come up with the date of less than a thousand years ago for such an event?

Duane: Yes, both the Biblical Flood event and Plato's story about a global catastrophic event that destroyed Atlantis are the same event. So, listen carefully to the following time formula that explains why the date of the Biblical Flood event and the destruction of Atlantis happened less than a thousand years ago -- or more precisely, some 938 years ago from the current year of 2017 A.T..

First, let me ask all those historians who pride themselves in knowing many of the important dates of recorded human history beyond five centuries ago to at least suspend their memory for a few minutes so that they can see a new radically smaller timeline version of human history than what they have always believed.

Second, let me also state that this new radically smaller timeline version of human history formula I am about to explain does not challenge the annual dates of the last five centuries because those dates can be verified -- whereas the annual dates of human history beyond about five centuries ago are not really verifiable.

And thirdly, although the following story of historical time values is a gross oversimplification of a very complex subject that I almost repeat during every interview, it is meant to help new visitors to my website better understand my radical theories about the true timeline of human history.

So, let me simply state the idea that all recorded historical dates beyond about five centuries ago are wrong for reasons I will explain.

In other words, because of the major dating mistakes created by the Nuremberg Chronicle history book printed in 1493 A.D. -- which has been the primary book of historical reference for historians for over five centuries, the dated chronology of the first patriarch named Adam to the discovery of the New World as recorded in the book is wrong.

For example, the maximum age of the Biblical patriarch named Methuselah was not 969 years -- but instead 969 months, which equals about 78 years. So, if certain dates within Biblical records can be mathematically reduced to smaller time unit values, then other time unit values of government history can also be seen as over valued.

Again -- for example, the 292 Olympiad time count of the Greco-Roman age gives about 1168 years between the first Olympiad in 776 B.C. and the last Olympiad in 392 A.D. -- but if the original Olympiads were annual events instead of 4-year events, then only about 292 years existed instead. Therefore, by mathematically overlaying both smaller values of Biblical and Greco-Roman time eras, the idea that ancient history is not so ancient in true year values is a believable concept to consider by modern historians.

Moreover, during the Middle Ages, historians further buffered historical dates by mistakenly adopting the habit of placing the Roman letter "M" just before certain important original dates during re-transcribing events -- which added a "thousand years" to the historical timeline. These historians may have confused the letter mark symbol of "M" which can mean "thou-son" or "the son of God" -- which also equals a "thousand" in Roman Numerals.

Therefore, if we remove the Roman numeral "M" from the Roman letter count of certain important dates we can remove a thousand year value that was mistakenly added to a one-hundred year time period value between the last Olympiad in 392 A.D. and the discovery of the New World in 1492 A.D.. So, the time period known as the Middle Ages, can now be reduced to just a one-hundred year time period value beyond about five centuries ago.

Now, having reduced recorded human history down to a much smaller timeline value than what conventional history would have us believe, let's look at the real annual time value of the records between Adam and the Biblical Flood.

Adam, by the way, was apparently a real person with a genealogical record that reveals numerical data which, if interpreted properly, can give real annual dates in time -- so, by adding up the lunar count numbers that were mistakenly recorded as year values, I have found that some 79 years after Adam's birth, the Biblical Flood took place.

Using the numbers in conventional genealogical records from Adam to Jesus Christ to figure out real annual time values can get tricky because they are a mixture of lunar and seasonal values with a few equinoxes included just to apparently make it difficult to understand properly.

Anyway, by aligning the new 292 annual year count value the Olympiads with some important Biblical characters, we should be able to get a handle on the true annual values of human history before the last Olympiad in 392 A.D. -- for example, my calculation studies tell me that Christ was born about 304 years after Adam, and that the last Olympiad took place some 88 years after Christ -- therefore 304 years plus 88 years equals 392 years after Adam when the Olympiads stopped.

However, because a small numerical 10-year discrepancy that appears at this point in this timeline formula where a 98 Olympiad count value -- instead of a 88 Olympiad year count value, exist between the birth of Christ in c.1 A.D. and the last Olympiad in 392 A.D., there needs to be some explanation of why.

Have you ever heard of the common saying that "Rome was not built overnight"? -- Well, it seems other historians have grappled with the idea that the Roman Empire and the city of Rome was "approximately built" over night in c.776 B.C., and that, during many translations, perhaps this 10-year discrepancy was created in calculating the year count of the Olympiads and the conventional birth date of Christ.

Another situation may also help explain a discrepancy of when the Olympiad count of the Greco-Roman Empire actually ended -- it seems that when the empire was divided into the Roman Latin western and the Byzantine Eastern areas, at about the same time the Olympiads stopped, historians may have lost track of when to measure annual time because there was no method to corralate or verify annual dates to the Olympiad count after 392 A.D..

In any event, if we count forward from Adam to Christ at the 304 year value, and then add 88 years more to get to the last Olymipad of 392, we get a date in time when the Greco-Roman Empire was divided into at the year count of 392 years after Adam.

So, at this point in our year count formula, if we add the new 100-year time count value of the Middle Ages onto the 392 year count of the last Olympiad, we get the discovery of the New World and the Renaissance in 492 -- as in 492 years after Adam.

And one more reason why the historical scholars working on the Nuremberg Chronicle history book incorrectly believed that Christ was born about 1492 years before the book was published in 1493 A.D., was because somebody convinced them to believe in a coincidental time formula that gives the total year value of 77,777 weeks as the same year value as about 1492 years -- therefore, they may have falsely believed the timely coincidence of their publication was some kind of "divine date" which "proved" Christ was born 1492 years before.

Now, in order to align this new annual count of human history with the current annual count of time so as to not cause too much confusion between new and old calendars, I created a new calendar count system based not on the birth of Christ -- or even the exact "birth-date" year of Adam, but on a time point of one-thousand years before my new year count formula of Adam's true "birth-date" in human history -- so that the old current year count of 2017 A.D. matches the new year count of 2017 A.T. -- as in Atlantean Time.

I decided on the term "Atlantean Time" -- or "A.T.", as a suffix to represent this new calendar count of human history because I believe Atlantis existed before Adam and should be remebered every time someone uses a date count in human history.

Regarding your question as to how long ago was the Biblical Flood event -- well, if the event took place some 79 years after Adam, or in 1079 A.T., that would make it some 938 years ago because 2017 minus 1079 equals 938.

And regarding Plato's statement about Atlantis being destroyed some nine-thousand years before the life of the first person who told the story of Atlantis named Solon, if we subtract only 900 months -- or about 72 years -- instead of 9000 years, from Solon who lived in c.1151 A.T., or some 47 years before Plato in c.1198 A.T., the total year value equals the year date of the flood in c.1079 A.T..

By the way, the approximate true year count between the lives of Solon and Plato is around 50 years -- instead of the conventional year count of around 200 years, because historians some five centuries ago "incorrectly measured and offically recorded in print" the timeline of Greco-Roman history based on a 4-year Olympian time count.

I have to say that it took me several decades to figure out the math involved in this new year time count formula of human history -- so, I don't expect any professional or amateur historian to quickly understand it. However, modern historians should at least consider it if they truely want to navigate ancient history and learn not only when Atlantis existed in time, but the true timeline of human history.

Reporter 1: You mention earlier that you were working on a scenery model project when you discovered the lastest evidence about Atlantis -- could you better explain that concept for us please?

Duane: Sure -- while creating a computer model of the seaport of Atlantis for a scenery project I'm working on so that visitors to the virtual place can experience the size and scale of the place, I came across the aforementioned discoveries.

I have actually built several computer models of the seaport over the years but recently found the time to make a more accurate version than before. Using the 304-foot Stadia value and a 200-foot sea-going trimaran ship design to properly scale the measurement values of the model was important because Plato's Atlantean Dialogues states that ship tunnels under the rings would accommodate them.

The following computer generated images of the seaport of Atlantis are from my latest work on the scenery model project. The model is incomplete -- as are the images, but they do give the scale of the place for us to see.

I hope to have a more complete version of the scenery model project available soon -- there is a lot of detail work to be done. So, until next time...
